International Expert Witness Residential Course – TBA
9th May 2025 - 11th May 2025, 18:00 - 13:00
The exceptional course is being run by the Northern Circuit at the Lancaster House Hotel over the weekend of May 9th – 11th 2025. The Circuit has forged close links with the Royal College of Psychiatrists to provide a first-rate training package for all practitioners whose area of practice includes the handling of expert evidence. Now in its 14th year, the course has gained international recognition and is something of which the Circuit is rightly proud. The venue will once again be the Lancaster House Hotel, Lancaster. Participants are expected to arrive after work on Friday and may expect to depart on Sunday at 1pm. The role of the experts will be taken by qualified psychiatrists, with case preparation, conferences, speeches and witness handling all explored within the setting of Civil, Criminal and Family jurisdictions. For reasons of resource and practicality, places are limited and will be allocated on a “first come, first served” basis. The cost, which is subsidised by Circuit, will be £250 per person (circuit members), to include room and meals. Non-circuit members will pay £350. Please contact Clare Calder at the Circuit Office admin@northerncircuit.org.uk as soon as possible to make a booking. You will be required to pay a deposit of £100 to confirm your place, with the balance payable by 11th April. In order to assist with accommodation bookings, we intend to close the list at the end of January. Our view is that witness handling skills are transferrable across the three main jurisdictions, but we intend to run three streams nevertheless. Please let us know your preference and whether you might be open to training in a different stream and, if so, which. We look forward to your support and to seeing you in May.
